My Story

As a mental health therapist, my journey of creating art is deeply intertwined with my experiences in psychology and clinical counseling. My  career has led me through diverse roles, from a special education teacher to a therapist in a high-security female prison. Currently, I am a therapist at a private practice in the D.C. Metropolitan area.

Throughout my professional journey, I've had the privilege of working closely with art therapists, witnessing the profound impact of art as a transformative means of communication, self-reflection, and empowerment. This firsthand exposure sparked my own exploration of artistic expression. Art, for me, has become both a solace and a portal to my authentic self.

My artistic journey is driven by an introverted desire to speak loudly and give voice to unique perspectives. Through my art, I aim to illuminate the beauty of layers, echoing my belief that nothing and no one should be taken at face value. Therein lies the essence of my work — a celebration of the complexity that defines us all…. For what a shame it would be if we were to limit our visions to the blatantly obvious.

In my artistic practice, I embrace a variety of mediums, including glass, acrylic paints, oil paints, pastels, mosaic tiles and found objects. Through this mix, I hope to foster a more profound and nuanced comprehension of both the world around us and the intricate layers within ourselves.

In essence, my art is an invitation to peel back the layers, to delve beneath the surface, and to discover the extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary. It is a testament to the belief that art is boundless in its capacity to inspire, heal, and illuminate the path to self-discovery.
